|
|
|
| |

| This high
speed binding system produces 120 ordered,
finished booklets per minute when feeding a 15-up sheet.
The following is an example of the binding process:
1.
Manual Feed (One 15-up batch inserted every 7 seconds)
2. 1st-Way Cut
3. Stitch
4. Tape
5. 2nd-Way Cut and Trim to Finish Size
6. Auto Stack and Discharge on Product Catch Board

Infeed
Section
|
Easy
Feeding – Operator only needs to feed one
15-up Batch every 7 seconds.
Infeed Sensors |
- Detects
Product is in position before starting another
cycle, and/or
- If
a mark is placed on your bottom sheet, it will
check to be sure the operator has separated the
stack in the proper place.

1ST
WAY CUT & REGISTER AREA

In
this example, we are cycling forward 3 inches, then
making a 1ST WAY CUT. The result is a strip that
is 3-up, and measures 3”(7.62cm) x 18 ¼”(46.35cm) – see
diagram, below.
|

The
3-up strip is then registered and squared, front
and back and side to side.
After
the strip leaves the 1st Way Cut area, it is monitored
by the SKEW DETECTORS each time it has completed
a cycle forward. If a skew is detected at any time,
the machine will STOP before damage to the product
occurs.

Wire
Stitching

Hohner
Stitching Heads
(6 shown for this 3-up Example)
The
STITCHER will insert six staples (A), then shift
over to insert six more staples (B) in each 3-up
strip. See Diagram below.
|

After
the strip leaves the stitch area, it passes under
the STITCH COUNTER. If a missed stitch is detected,
the machine will automatically stop, a missed stitch
signal will come up on the operator’s screen.

Tape
Application
- The
Bielomatik is presently set up to apply a ¾” (1.90cm)
wide pressure sensitive TAPE around the
spine of the booklet, covering the staples.
- It
only applies tape if it “sees” product.
- A
pair of sensors are used to ensure tape was applied
and will notify the operator if it was missed.

2nd
WAY CUT with optional TRIM REMOVAL SYSTEM
The
3-up strip has now been stapled and tape has been
applied. The 3-up strip is next automatically transferred
to the 2nd CUTTING SECTION, where 1/8” Trim
is cut and removed via a high-suction vacuum unit.
The strip is cut into three finish sized booklets
measuring 3”(7.62cm) x 6”(15.24cm)

Stack
and Discharge
| After
all 15 booklets are in their proper drop bins, all
15 booklets are dropped at the same time. |

When
desired stack count is achieved,
15 Finished Stacks are automatically ejected.
Ultra
Sonic Pile Height checks each 15 stacks to verify
every stack is the same height as they are ejected,
and a camera at Outfeed monitors the stack discharge
area, which can be viewed on the operator’s
Touch Screen Panel.

Touch
Screen Controls

This
Bielomatik binder has been upgraded to use state-of-the-art
Windows-based touch screen controls. The touch screen
uses GE Fanuc Cimplicity software in conjunction with
a GE Fanuc 90-30 series PLC This along with a machine
timing encoder provides for increased accuracy, reliability
and customization of the binding process. All upgraded
components are readily available through standard distributor
outlets. |
Integrated
Diagnostics
All
sensors used in the upgraded system are of extremely
high reliability. If a problem does occur, maintenance
personnel can easily view all PLC inputs and outputs
on the touch screen. This greatly simplifies troubleshooting
of electrical problems as each input sensor or output
coil/relay can be monitored or tested individually.
Product
Monitoring System
From
the moment the operator places a pad onto the infeed
table until it is ejected as a finished product,
it is monitored by the state-of-the-art sensors and
control software. Damage to the product is greatly
reduced or eliminated by detectors which will halt
the
machine if a product becomes skewed. Product quality
is constantly monitored by a stitch
detector and tape sensors which will stop
the process
and
notify
the operator should a stitch or tape be missing from
the product in process. This allows the operator
to correct the problem and continue without loss
of
product.
Stacker
/ Delivery camera
A
digital cam mounted at the discharge area is displayed
on screen at the operator feed station. This allows
the operator to easily monitor the product as it
is ejected without leaving the infeed station. This
reduces operating costs since an additional person
is not required to monitor the pads as they are ejected.
